“Civil Service Bureau” & “Engineering Professions” in Coordination

13 Feb 2018

Civil Service Bureau and the Council for Regulating the Practice of Engineering Professions (CRPEP) held a coordination meeting, attended by Mr. Ahmed Al Zayed, President of the Bureau, and Eng. Abdul Majeed Al Qassab, Chairman of Council, where coordination and cooperation were discussed to ensure that all government bodies comply with the requirement to license their engineers, which is in line with the Law for practicing engineering professions.

It is worthwhile mentioning that, in September 2016, Civil Service Bureau issued instructions No. (15) of 2016 with respect to the mandatory requirement of obtaining the necessary licenses to practice engineering professions in governmental bodies, which significantly contributed to the issuance of licenses to the majority of engineers who work in governmental bodies.

During the meeting, many important points were discussed, including the rules for recognizing the experience of the licensees in governmental bodies, the regulated job title of “Consultant” or its synonyms for engineers and matching the job title, job description (or bachelor\'s degree), the nature of the work of the General Engineer and other related matters.

Fostering cooperation, coordination and regular meetings between the Bureau and the Council to discuss the challenges and ways to overcome them, and procedures and how to improve them, were emphasized. At the end of the meeting, Eng. Abdul Majeed Al-Qassab expressed his thanks and appreciation to Mr. Ahmed Al-Zayed as well as the officials of the Bureau for their continuous and fruitful cooperation to ensure the application of the law of practicing engineering professions.
