Coordinating Inspection Activities between CRPEP & Northern Municipality

Eng. Abdul Majeed Al Qassab, Chairman of the Council for the Practice of Engineering Professions, mentioned that the Council is in direct coordination with the inspection sections of the municipalities to ensure that engineering offices and contractors comply with the law of practicing engineering professions. He also stressed that obtaining licenses for all those who engaged in engineering work is a major requirement in the law and that violating this requirement is considered a crime punishable by law, as stipulated in the law regulating the practice of engineering professions.

Eng. Qassab’s statement came during the coordination meeting held between the Council for Regulating the Practice of Engineering Professions (CRPEP) and the Northern Municipality. Eng. Hasan Al Sheikh, the Council Manager, added that inspection activities are going, which are carried out by the Council on the construction sites. The reports then are sent to the concerned municipality for the necessary action. The most important requirements to be observed in construction sites include the availability of board sign for the project which key details about the project such as the license number, the name of the engineering consultant and the contractor. An engineering consultant should be appointed for electromechanical projects of which cost exceeds 300,000 dinars.
