CRPEP and LMRA Discuss Matters Related to Non-Bahraini Employees Who Engage in Engineering Professions

Date: 6 October 2016
In line with the law requirements that non-Bahraini employees who work in any of the engineering professions in the kingdom must obtain the necessary licenses to practice their engineering professions, the Chairman of the Council for Regulating the Practice of Engineering Professions (CRPEP), Abdul Majid Al-Qassab met with the CEO of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), Osama Abdullah al-Absi, in the presence of officials from the two authorities. Matters related to foreign employment in the engineering professions in the kingdom were discussed.

The meeting discussed the necessary measures to be taken to ensure licensing all non-Bahraini engineers in the kingdom, in accordance with Law No. 51 of 2014 with respect to regulating the practice of engineering professions, in order to avoid any delays in the process of renewing work permits with LMRA for these non-Bahraini engineers. This will require that the engineer is licensed in advance by the CRPEP. It is worthwhile noting that the CRPEP has already given a grace period to correct the status of all unlicensed engineers in both the private and governmental institutions, till the end of September 2016.
A team consisting of LMRA and CRPEP officials has been formed to follow up and coordinate actions aiming at ensuring that all non-Bahraini engineers who work in the kingdom are licensed.

The CRPEP’s Chairman hailed the role of the LMRA’s CEO with his noticeable support and fruitful cooperation in order to ensure that all non-Bahraini engineers who engage in engineering professions are licensed.
